For all who are unaware of the significance of today in RAF - TopicsExpress

For all who are unaware of the significance of today in RAF Maritime history, can I just briefly explain that on 2 September 1995, Nimrod XV239 was lost in Toronto during an airshow. Exactly 11 years to the day, 2 September 2006, Nimrod XV230 was lost in Afghanistan. Both aircraft were crewed by CXX/120 Sqn from RAF Kinloss. Each year, those of us that are (now) ex Maritime, remember with enormous pride those 21 souls lost in the two accidents, and I would simply ask you all to join with me at 11 am this morning, just to stop for a minute or two and remember both crews and all those who have paid the ultimate price for our continued freedom and liberty. RIP fellas. Thinking of you. Si Radley
