For those who saw the Trip Reminder Email and are maybe wondering about the photos. I left my camera behind and so used a couple of pics from a previous Trip. I lead in 2012. That was also a great day. Laraine had to cancel her Lake Rotoiti trip to the hot pools due to forecasted high winds but Robbies Whakatane to Ohope trip enjoyed good weather. The photos certainly look good. It was one of those crisp, cool, winter mornings that developed into blue skies. 11 paddlers enjoyed rock Gardening & lunch in the sunshine. It was great to have some new members along, welcome to the club Alen Snowsill & John Penman. And finally, from Robbie, our safety officer. One paddler asked me which weather site I use for marine forecasts? There are many weather sites available, my personal favorite is marineweather.co.nz/forecasts/whakatane-heads I have found this site easy to use and understand with swell graph, wind, tides displayed effectively on one page over a 7 day forecast. Most importantly their forecasts are consistently reliable. Marineweather data is monitored for accuracy using SURF2SURF LIVE beach cameras at 17 key locations around the NZ CoastlineMarineweather.co.nz is a key source of forecast information for marine enthusiasts covering 300+ beach, reef, Island and river bar points Nationwide. Marineweather forecasts are generated by an array of sophisticated forecast modelling servers, data is then presented using a clean and easy to use online interface. I hope you enjoy checking out this site. Happy, Safe Paddling Everyone
