“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. – Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) Today’s commentary by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org Isaiah lived in a time when Israel was disintegrating as a nation. Using the language of the Jewish exodus from Egypt, Isaiah was saying that the coming Babylonian captivity would not be the final word in their struggles. God was doing something new, even if they could not perceive it. God still makes ways in the desert. If you feel completely defeated at this moment take heart, for God can bring new things from places that we never expect.
