* Forgive and Forget David Jeremiah And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Matthew 6:12, KJV Recommended Reading Matthew 6:14-15Quick -- without thinking: What was your familys telephone number when you were eight years old? How many of your first-grade classmates names can you recite? Instead, what is your current phone number? What are the names of your family members? Obviously, the information we use and repeat consistently is the information we remember. We forget what we dont recall on a regular basis. The same goes for those who have sinned against us, whose sins we have forgiven but have a hard time forgetting. You cant recall every wrong you have experienced in life because you dont think about or talk about them every day. And the same goes for those you do remember. If you have forgiven someone for their sin, there is no reason at all to continue to dwell on it. Dwelling on a sin daily means youll never forget it and youll never move on. We are to forgive others as God has forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32). The more we forget about something, the sooner we will forget it altogether. First, forgive. Second, forget by choosing not to dwell on that which is forgiven and in the past. We have no right to keep in front of us what God has put behind Him. Read-Thru-the-Bible 1 Corinthians 10-13
