*Freezing Rain & Sleet Until 11am* *ROADS ICY* *Sun Returns Friday* DETAILS - Freezing rain and sleet is over a large portion of central Virginia this morning from Ashland to Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, Petersburg, west to Farmville and all points south and east. Roads are icy in many spots and extreme caution is advised this morning if you are heading out to work or school. Even for those that have delayed openings by two hours, I expect roads will still be icy in a few areas by then. Temperatures will not warm up to above freezing until between noon and 3pm across much of central Virginia. The freezing rain and sleet will come to an end between 9am and 11am for the majority of the 8News viewing area, but keep in mind immediate coastal sections may have rain showers until 2p to 4pm. This system will be gone by 5pm this evening but our skies will remain mostly cloudy tonight with lows dropping back into the middle 20s. That means that if we have standing water on area roads those spots will refreeze for Thursday morning commute. Thursday will feature mostly cloudy skies as another weather system passes by to our south. High temperatures on Thursday will only top out around 40. The sunshine will return for Friday and Saturday with highs around 50. Sunday may start off nice but a few of our weather models are trying to develop a system along the east coast of Virginia. This will spread clouds back into the region and bring us the chance of rain with highs from 50 to 55. Partly sunny skies will return for Monday and Tuesday with highs in the upper 40s to near 50.
