• From CEO’s Desk - Searching For A Differentiated Answer to a Cliché of a Question: Outlook 2015 – Institution Desk: The start to 2015 could not have been more dramatic and in most cases, unfortunate. Another airplane goes missing and then down, a dastardly terrorist attack next door in Pakistan and the increasing fear of terrorism in the Middle East, crude oil prices have crashed, Russia is in all sorts of trouble (of its own doing), Greece is muddying waters again, global central banks continue to talk about the S word, stimulus, in the absence of any definitive ways of reviving economies across geographies, the US GDP has grown at 5% annualized in the most recent disclosure, the winter session of parliament in India was a washout, the government of India has gone into ordinance overdrive mode to get bills and legislation passed, Mumbai is feeling the cold this winter already, and how! And to top it all, India’s cricket captain walks away from the gutsiest format of the game in the most mysterious circumstances. Elsewhere the Nifty keeps a brief date with 8600 towards the back end of 2014 and manages to correct itself from there with the one question everyone in my profession tries to answer this day each year, and for the next year it is – what’s in store for the market in 2015? The world is looking for answers to questions that surfaced in 2008 and in most cases, they still remain unanswered. Hence central banks and their policies will be the dominating headline for 2015
