The archer sees the mark upon the path of theinfinite, and He bends you with His mightthat His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archers hand be forgladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable. -And when youve done all that you can do to influence your children in ways based on your experience, your wisdom and your love for them, take comfort in the Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Perhaps one price of being a parent is the necessity to find some source of serenity to accept what you cannot change, some source of the kind of love that will permit you to love someone who chooses to be different from you, who chooses to march to a different drummer.
