******Funeral F*** ups series 1: Where is murthys plot?***** I have attended many funerals quite against the wishes and fears of my parents and elderly people in the family. It made me tough from within and quite sensitive and aware of this irreversible fate that would befall everyone, Obama or Osama or Ram maama (my moms uncle :P ), some day or the other. However my recent attendance to funerals has been irritating, interesting, and illuminating about the insensitivity of some of the participants, but also provided enough material for humor. If you want to meet fake philosophers, funeral is the place to go. Most of them will be in a state of what is called the smashana vairagya, a temporary feeling of disgust about life (probably others life :P ) at a funeral. Such people utter thousands of things which they dont really mean, and it doesnt take long to expose them. You hear words of wisdom such as This is life. And we fight for this day like fools. How sad. Life is like a bubble of water which can burst any moment and so on. Soon after the funeral, in the bathroom you hear the same person shouting in a disgusting tone which bastard stole my soap? :) Last week I had to attend the funeral of a very intelligent, great lady who was the proud wife of one of the finest musicians this land has ever produced and proud mother of another finest musician of this era, who is a very dear friend, a guru and a father figure to me (call him Mr. X). I was given the responsibility of getting some documents photocopied. I had done my duty and was waiting at the gate. This griefstricken great man Mr. X came to inquire if documents are ready. The man standing next to me (Y), probably an old family friend of X asked Mr. X, as if oblivious to the surroundings Ye X aa murthy site enaitu anta swalpa vicharso (inquire what happened to murthys plot) to which Mr. X who is a king of sarcasm, replied with a gentle smile on his face, pointing his fingers in the direction of where his lifeless mother was kept, idh agbidli kano :) (let this thing get over dude). Whether people like Y are brutally practical, insane or insensitive or if they are very saintly who have won the fear of death, Im yet to ascertain with all my thinking power, however limited. To be contd... Yours truly Lord Deepak (PBUM)
