Further to yesterdays post on the Scientists, back in 2006, the reformed line-up performed as support to Mudhoney at Londons Shepherds Bush Empire. The show was recorded and subsequently released on ATP recordings. Entitled Sedition it is probably the best document of the bands sound (their actual recordings, in the main, being rather flat by comparison). Back at the time, Kim Salmon remarked of those original recordings, that they had no idea what the Scientists sounded like to an audience so they tried to replicate what it sounded like to the band on stage. Considering monitor mixes are more often than not a bands nadir, perhaps this wasnt the wisest choice. He also added that he didnt want the Scientists to sound like Led Zeppelin (who were still the anti-christ, leftover from the punk days). Anyways, Sedition captures the goodness. Witness Backwards Man from the same show and relive the good times at the Entertainers Club, the Vulcan Hotel, Southern Cross, Trade Union Club, Gaelic Club, Paddington Green, Stranded and that place in Newtown behind the falafel shop with the booth seats and phones on the tables…
