# GEELANIREFUSES TO TRAVEL IN GOVT CHOPPER Will Be Flown For Check-up To Delhi In Routine Flight today: Ayaz Akbar Srinagar, Mar 12: Refusing to travel in a government chopper offered to him by the senior officials of the state administration Wednesday, ailing Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman # Syed_Ali_Shah_G eelaniwill travel to New Delhi by routine flight tomorrow to conduct his health check-up at Apollo Hospital. Meanwhile, the Hurriyat (G) has strongly reacted to the false news circulated by Wikipedia and a New Delhi based news channel about Geelani’s death. Official sources told Greater Kashmir that as the rumours started making rounds about Geelani’s health condition this morning, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Shah and SSP Budgam visited Geelani’s Hyderpora residence and offered a government chopper for ferrying him to New Delhi for treatment. The duo, however, did not meet Geelani in person. “Geelani rejected the offer,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said. “We believe government wants to gain political mileage out of Geelani’s illness as seen in the past. When he was in Ranchi prison, the then chief minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed helped Geelani to shift him to Mumbai hospital where he was treated for kidney cancer. Till date, Mufti beats the drum that he helped Geelani. Keeping this in view, we rejected the government offer of using a chopper.” He said Hurriyat (G) is fighting against the system and it can’t take any benefit from the government “which is working to strengthen the occupation.” About the health condition of the octogenarian leader, the Hurriyat (G) spokesman said Geelani is stable and would be shifted to New Delhi tomorrow (Thursday) in a routine flight. “He will fly in a flight scheduled at 12 noon,” “The Hurriyat is investigating as to why false news was circulated and rumours spread about Geelani’s death by Wikipedia and a New Delhi based news channel,” Akbar said. Pertinently, overnight false rumours on the social networking site Facebook suggested that Geelani was no more, which had sent the administration into a tizzy. What contributed more to the false rumours was sudden network failure due to which mobile phones became defunct for hours late on Tuesday evening. The Hurriyat (G) spokesman said Geelani will have a detailed check up at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi where he would be seen by noted oncologist Dr Sameer Kaul. “He will be seen by another doctor for his chronic bronchitis problem,” Akbar said. “He has been advised to go for a series of tests as well. We will keep the people of Kashmir posted about Geelani’s health.” #MT
