~♡♡~☆☆GET YOUR POM POMS READY!!☆☆~♡♡~ Conductor Connie Phillips and our VIP Phillip are nearing Nashua, Iowa and Rustic Hollow Sanctuary! Here is a brief bit of information found on the Sanctuarys About page: C & W Rustic Hollow Shelter is a non profit, tax exempt (Federal ID# 42-1456194) life care, cage-free sanctuary for special needs felines with chronic medical, physical, neurological & behavioral issues, those with Feline Leukemia or FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and felines displaced at the death of their guardian. We are one of a few sanctuaries in the U.S. to give Feline Leukemia and other ‘adoption challenged’ felines a ‘chance at a lifetime’. Our caregiver employee team of 11 and many volunteers care for the over 350 felines and several very senior dogs that call C & W their forever home. We offer an ‘alternative to euthanasia’ as many of the felines that come to us are at the ‘end of their lives’ without a sanctuary to welcome them. Our sanctuary residents come from over 30 state and from all across Iowa. We do not take in people’s pets (exception: death of guardian) or strays, but we DO OFFER a rehoming program for these animals. None of these reside at the sanctuary, we simply act as intermediator and ‘matchmaker’ for these companion animals. We offer behavioral counseling to families who want to keep their cat but need to resolve issues they are having with their companion furball. The sanctuary rests on 90 acres of (sanctuary owned) land in a scenic, peaceful valley, known as Willow Echo Farm. C & W partners with our neighboring county Spay Neuter Assistance Program, (S.N.A.P.) and monthly or bi-monthly spay/neuter clinics are hosted on site in our newer building, Bradley’s House-in memory of Bradley d.Katt. Over 33 cats are altered per clinic day and in September 2013, the S.N.A.P. program had altered 1,000 cats. The cats altered are strays, barn cats, or homes with multiple cats, and ferals. Currently prices are $35 per cat and that fee includes altering, Rabies vaccination, FVRCP (distemper) vaccination, flea treatment, deworming, nail trimming (if needed), ears cleaned (if needed) and any grooming needs. Our goal, “No More Homeless Pets in Northeast Iowa.” Conservation is a prime concern as well. The sanctuary is also a release site for rehabilitated wildlife who enjoy the creeks, marshland, and woodland. The sanctuary currently has six main buildings/homes, each with an outdoor screened in ‘catio’ the felines can go out in 3 seasons of the year. Each area has TV’s with Catnip (Catsitter) Videos playing for the residents indoor enjoyment. rustichollowshelter.org START WAVING YOUR POM POMS!!
