Galatians Study # 3 Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Gal 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Gal 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. *************** 1:9- The curse for preaching a gospel other Pauls is repeated. There is nothing wrong with the gospel of the kingdom, the gospel of the circumcision, or any other gospel in the Bible. The problem is that Gods will for today is that we BELIEVE the gospel that Christ gave to Paul. ONLY Pauls gospel saves in the present dispensation of grace! 1:10- Paul is not going to change his mind to satisfy these Jewish kingdom believers that wanted to bring the law and circumcision into the dispensation of grace. We cannot please God by serving men. This is why I have a huge problem with pastor/priests in denominations. They are servants of men! They get paid a good salary; they get lodging and health benefits in most cases. Not that there is anything wrong with paying your pastor. it is scriptural, but to be a servant of men and have to teach ACCORDING TO YOUR DENOMINATIONS DOCTRINAL stance is serving men, not God! 1:11- Now Paul starts another little section here. Paul has to defend his unique CHRIST APPOINTED apostleship, AND the CHRIST APPOINTED GOSPEL that he preached! These Jewish troublemakers were planting seeds of discord and doubt about Pauls qualifications. Paul also is separating himself from the twelve apostles of Israel. For one, he is telling them that Peter, James and John did NOT preach to Paul about the gospel! Paul NEVER even met Peter until THREE years AFTER he was saved on the road to Damascus! Paul was always defending his apostleship, as I will show. It is obviously one of Satans first points of attacks in this dispensation. ATTACK THE MESSENGER! Notice: 1Co 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 1Co 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. ********* The Corinthians were deserting Pauls authority. They had TEN THOUSAND instructors; yet Paul warned them, he was their ONLY father in relation to the gospel! The Corinthians were even puffed up about this. 1Co 4:18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. 1Co 4:19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 1Co 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. 1Co 4:21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness? ***** Also: 2Co 13:3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you. *** The Corinthians wanted proof that Christ spoke through Paul! I hear that from Red letter Christians, those that think ONLY the Bible in red letters are the words of Christ. This actually is a very sad testimony of the persons ignorance of Gods Word, Notice: 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: In any case, Paul had to defend his unique apostleship, and those that follow Christ today BY FOLLOWING PAUL have to defend Paul the same way! It is not an easy fight. Denominational churches have GREAT HOLDS on believers. They brainwash these folks from an early age and indoctrinate them into their ungodly belief systems. I say ungodly, because to not be Pauline today is to be UNGODLY; you are laboring AGAINST Gods will. Now, you may not think you are, but according to the doctrine of Pauls 13 letters Romans -Philemon, you ARE IN FACT being ungodly. You may not know that until the Judgment Seat of Christ exposes your wood, hay and stubble for what it is, but it is ungodly just the same! I highly suggest that any person that desires to know that Paul received his orders from Christ and NOT the 12 apostles of Israel--read Acts 9! For spaces sake, I wont post that, but you should read it! Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Gal 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: Gal 1:14 And profited in the Jews religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. ************** Verse 12 continues with what I just pointed out. Christ personally gave to Paul the gospel which is called by Paul, MY GOSPEL three different times, and is insinuated many more times! Rom 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to MY GOSPEL. Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to MY GOSPEL, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, ACCORDING TO THE REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY, which WAS KEPT SECRET SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN, *** Just a side note about Romans 16:25. The fact that there is a MY GOSPEL and the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the Revelation of the Mystery, which was kept secret since the world began tells us a few things. Notice: 1) It was PAULs GOSPEL. This tells us that there are OTHER gospels in the Bible, even in what we call the New Testament! 2) The fact that it says that Jesus Christ was preached according to the MYSTERY tells us that there is preaching of Jesus Christ according to PROPHECY. 3) And the fact that this GOSPEL and THIS MYSTERY was kept HID in God since the world began ought to tell us something about prophecy and mystery, the greatest division in our Bibles! *************** Verse 13 takes us back to Pauls persecuting ways at the time of Stephens stoning in Acts 7. Paul was hell bent on destroying Christians before Christ intercepted him on the road to Damascus in Acts 9. I think the purpose of Paul bringing this up is to separate himself from the 12 apostles of Israel, and even from having known Christ in his 3 year ministry. To have been one of the 12, you had to meet some qualifications, one of which is that you had to have been walking with Christ. This Paul obviously DID NOT DO, as his persecution of the Jewish believers attests to! Paul was NOT one of the 12; he did NOT LEARN the gospel he preached from the 12. This is why he brings this up! Verse 14 tells us how good Paul had it BEFORE Christ intercepted him on the road to Damascus and appointed him apostle of the Gentiles! Paul did what EVERY RELIGION does--IT PROFITS, and that not only in status, but also in WEALTH! Paul gave it all up, as he tells us in this verse: Phl 3:4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Phl 3:5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Phl 3:6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. Phl 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Phl 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I HAVE SUFFERED THE LOSS OF ALL THINGS, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, ************ Unlike our present day prosperity preachers and the sheep that make them rich, Paul did NOT profit from being a Christian. In fact, as he tells us he has SUFFERED THE LOSS OF ALL THINGS! He even counts them dung! Paul had the life of a Pharisee, which is quite similar to what Priests and Pastors of major denominations have today! How unlike they are from the only apostle Christ ever gave us, and how foolish it is to follow them! In any case, given the context of Galatians 1, I should again post the gospel that saves today! 1Co 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I PREACHED UNTO YOU you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory WHAT I PREACHED UNTO YOU, unless ye have believed in vain. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, HOW THAT Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: **** There is more to the above passage than just repeating a mantra--Christ died for our sins... It is the preaching of it. The HOW THAT Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again. This Paul does in the first 3 chapters of Romans. Paul declared to the Romans that he was ready to preach the gospel to them. Rom 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I AM READY TO PREACH THE GOSPEL to you that are at Rome also. *** This Paul did. I highly suggest you read the first 3 chapters of Romans. I also did a verse by verse study of Romans. You can get the link off my Facebook Page. You can use it for a guide if you are new to the Bible. In any case, Paul also talked of the preaching of the Cross! 1Co 1:18 For the PREACHING OF THE CROSS is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. I also did a paper/note on this titled, The Offense of the Cross, also on my home page. Ill just post them here. https://facebook/pages/Romans-Bible-Study/366837166787794?ref=hl&ref_type=bookmark https://facebook/notes/robert-morphew-jr/the-offence-of-the-cross/466989199982616
