*******Gazette Report********** District and County results – Eric Browitt, David Brown and Kevin Clarke won a tightly fought County Triples match against Cassiobury (Watford) they even had to use an extra end to decide the outcome; Lesley Brown and Janice Murgatroyd won through their W & D Ladies Pairs match against Croxley Guild 30 – 15; Kevin Clarke and David Brown beat a pair from Garston in the W & D Men’s Pairs; Steve Burrell and Brian Smith also go forward to the next round of the W & D Men’s Pairs and Alan Jones and Ken Maynard won through to the next round of the St Albans and District Men’s Pairs after beating a pair from Batchwood Hall 25 – 11. Finally in the week-end friendly against Potters Bar away Derek Sandford, Pat Ringwood and Brian Ralphs led Berkhamsted to a 72- 62 victory after a close fought match that was tight even up to the last two ends. On Sunday morning five of the Herts County Coaching Society coaches descended on Berkhamsted’s Green to give some (2hrs) of friendly advice to 24 bowlers on the art of delivering the heavy / driving wood. All participants commented afterwards that it was of immense educational value and they would like to thank Paul Oxtoby and his four fellow coaches for their time and dedication.
