‘Give your cooperation to new District Officer’ MARUDI: Staff of Marudi District Office and committee leaders should cooperate with new Marudi District Officer (DO) Mackos Sibong. This advice came from Miri Division Resident Anthonio Khati Gallis who heads civil servants in the division. Mackos is no stranger to the people of Baram, having worked in Miri division for four years prior to being transferred to the State Planning Unit in Kuching where he served from 2003-2006. He was assistant DO in Marudi from 2011 until his promotion to DO in Marudi this year. The Resident welcomed Mackos at a farewell dinner for outgoing DO Joseph Belayong on Friday night. He wished Joseph all the best at the Ministry of Land Development in Kuching where he has been posted after having been DO in Marudi for eight years. Joseph has been a civil servant for 27 years altogether, starting as an SAO in Kapit District Office in 1986. He later worked in Julau District Office, Kanowit and Kuantan District Office before becoming assistant principal director at the State Finance Department (Contractor Registration Unit). The farewell dinner was attended by Water Supply and Agriculture Assistant Minister Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, Baram MP Anyi Ngau, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Richard Wil Uban and Orang Ulu and Iban community leaders.
