Goal Gives Me A Boost Goal Gives Me A Boost DAVID TEMPLETON hopes scoring the clincher for Rangers in their dramatic 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Falkirk can kick-start a difficult 2013/14 for him so far. The former Hearts winger came on midway through the second period at Westfield with the game still goalless. And after Nicky Law finally broke the deadlock in the last 60 seconds of the regulation 90 minutes, Templeton made sure of victory deep into injury time. The goal was his fourth of the season and was perhaps his most timely yet given how frustrating it has been for him in recent weeks. He has had a good few days after playing well for the under-20s on Tuesday at Partick, with manager Ally McCoist recognising the 24-year-old’s improved form. Templeton has found it tough to catch up after he was hurt in pre-season but seems to be making some headway now. And having made a crucial contribution today he said: “We’re delighted to get into the next round as that was our aim. “We scored two late goals and all the boys are happy with that. It just shows the spirit that we have that we kept fighting to the end. “It was good for me to get the goal. I had two games recently where I didn’t play that well and I wasn’t at my best at all. “That was through a lack of games as much as anything so coming on and getting goal has given me a boost. “Maybe I’ve given the manager a decision to make ahead of the next game and I’m keen to try to start if I can. “Since pre-season I’ve had a couple of injuries and we had some midweek matches which meant I wasn’t able to play in many under-20 games to get fitness. “It was good to play in midweek though to try to get my confidence and fitness back and I felt Tuesday’s match helped me today.”
