✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ Gods Ability to Bless ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ ✞ And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. 1 Chr 4:9-10 Jabez’s life was at a standstill. The whole world viewed him as a failure. All prospects of a meaningful life painfully eluded him. Whatever he tried failed. Circumstances from his birth had wired him to fail. Tired of the mundane and sick of the ordinary, he took a journey. It was a spiritual pilgrimage. He understood that to make history, he needed to change the story of his life. He could not be ordinary and be the same as everybody else. Honor begins when you separate yourself from the crowd and find the pathways of God- (the highways to Zion, Ps. 84:6). With a sure step by step strategy Jabez called on God! He didn’t sit back and say, “What will be will be!” He wanted to change the outlook of things and to do so; he went back to the Maker and Creator of all things. It is God who can change your story; not your friend, father, husband or wife. Man will disappoint but in God are virtues and abilities to transform things that were cast in stone. This is why he was able to provide the children of Israel water from the rock. Jabez said, “Bless me indeed...” He knew God to be the bless-er! The One who could give what his mother or father failed to give! To say bless me indeed to someone is making oneself vulnerable to them. It is to say that I have tried everything else and found no joy. When you find the Bless-er, life can no longer be ordinary; the mundane turns into joy, an ordinary life takes the extra ordinary route. You too can be blessed despite background and kin, despite color or country. The Creator is ready for those who will call so He can give credence to His word. He further said, “Enlarge my coasts...” There were persistent boundaries in his life. There were things he could not do despite all his efforts. Opportunities daily eluded him. He needed divine intervention to change this chapter of his life. He asked God to break his boundaries and remove all border lines. God is the One who has given parameters to the sea as to where it must end, the One holding all things by the word of His power (Heb 1:3)! Jabez knew God to be the One with the power to open the flood- gates for him. Today I have a word for you! There is more in you, there is just too much in you. It is not God’s desire to limit you. You can’t be curtailed by any strategy of the enemy. Jabez finally asked that the hand of the Lord would be upon him, that he would be kept from evil and that the blessing would not bring sorrow. The blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow with it (Pro 10:22). The hand of the Lord works wonders! That same hand that fed the Israelites in the desert. When that hand is upon you, you can’t fail. History is for you to make. You will not pass through this world silently as if you never lived. You will deliver everything God deposited in you. It is your time to shine brightly. Arise! Don’t pay homage to boundaries anymore as the Bless-er has taken habitation in you.
