**HEALTH HACK** - Protecting your skin from sun damage in the long term The skin in designed to be in the sun. The occurrence of cell mutations in the skin that has become one of the biggest Australian degenerative dis-eases can be slowed through the time tested act of prevention and skin fortification via diet and lifestyle. *Please note that the primary key when it comes to skin health and sun exposure is to take full responsibility for the appropriate exposure time you are designed for and adapt appropriately throughout the seasons.* Here are 4 easy tips: 1. Eat high pigment food: The pigments (antioxidants) in fruit, vegetables and herbs are protective of the dermal layers and assist in generating the skins ability to work with the sunlight in the transmutation process into the chemical hormone vitamin D. My favourites pigments are/reside in tomatoes, beetroot, chaga, berries, astaxanthin, capers, spirulina and grapes. 2. Get super hydrated: Hydrated cells are happy cells, and that includes the cells of the skin. When they are plumped with good quality water, they integrate sunlight with much more ease and flow with lowered possibility for burning. 3. Reduce chemical application on skin: The toxicity in most creams, lotions and oils are synthetic and therefore are not easily absorbed by the body, often blocking the passage of flow through the dermal layers and causing cell mutation when these toxins burn and go rancid. The best rule to abide by is to only apply things to your skin if you would literally eat it. 4. Clean your skin: The skin gets super dirty living in this toxic environment we call Western civilisation. When organic tissue is dirty it cannot perform its function properly, when it cant do this is stagnates and blockages biological flow, and at that point cells resort to drastic matters to maintain their purpose and we get what our culture calls our national cancer on the skin. This is a black and white statement and there are many other variables, however this is a major player. Learn to clean your skin on a regular basis through dry skin brushing, gua sha etc. to help remedy this. By adding this to your self care protocol you ensure that the fungus, estrogens, petrochemicals, dead cells, smog etc. that are embed in the skin are consistently being detoxed and the skin can maintain healthy function while maintaining proper sunlight integration abilities.
