~ HEAVY STORMS SET FOR QLD AGAIN TOMORROW (SUNDAY) ~ A Trough is extending from Brisbane to Bundaberg, then inland North of Longreach, Richmond and Mount Isa. High Instability is expected to the North and East of this Trough, which will combine with High Moisture to produce Slow Moving, Heavy Storms across much of Eastern and Northern QLD. SEQ: • Storms possible along the Coast during the afternoon and possibly last into the evening. • Heavy Rain and Damaging Winds are the main threats for these Storms. Frequent Lightning could also occur due to High Temperatures and extra Energy in the Atmosphere • Storms are expected to move towards the ENE courtesy of Steering Winds • Temperature wise (Image 3): Brisbane 35ºc, Ipswich 37ºc, Gold Coast 31ºc, Sunshine Coast 34ºc, Gatton 38ºc. Humidity could make it feel as much as 5ºc, maybe even 6 or 7ºc hotter depending on the timing. CENTRAL QLD: • Storms likely, with a chance of some becoming Severe between Rockhampton and Cairns. • Heavy Rain is expected to be the main threat, with Moisture Levels maxing out. Damaging Winds could also become an issue, but this will be quite Isolated • Falls in excess of 50mm are possible, with widespread falls above 20mm expected • Flash Flooding is a possibility, with some areas seeing multiple Storms now over the last few days, all dumping Heavy Rain • Frequent and Dangerous Lightning could be an issue, with High Instability, High Temperatures and High Energy combining in Storms. • Storms are expected to be towards the E to NE as they approach the Coast • Due to many locations seeing High Rainfall totals due to Storms lately, Flash Flooding is now becoming an issue as the ground is now quite saturated. NW/NORTHERN GOLDFIELDS: • Storms likely as well, with a potential for some to become Severe. • Heavy Rain will be the main concern, with Damaging Winds also possible. Frequent Lightning could occur in some cells • High Rainfall Totals are less likely due to not quite as much Moisture around, although Storms could dump >20mm on some areas due to their slow moving nature • Storms expected to move towards the East and last into the evening.
