**HELP NEEDED!** Jersey needs your help, Facebook followers, and we hope youll be able to! Jersey is a 1-year-old male Black Lab mix that was adopted from our shelter as a puppy. He recently came back because of major medical issues that developed as this poor guy grew. He was a happy-go-lucky bouncing puppy, and he still is now! The only problem is that he cant be as bouncy and active as he wants to be. Jersey was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia AND bilateral luxating patellas, which basically means that Jerseys hip and knee joints are formed in such a way that they dont work as they should to allow him the appropriate movements. As he is running, Jersey will suddenly lose his legs and sit down. It doesnt happen all the time, but it can happen in an instant. Hell get right back up, but its not good for this to be happening to him, meaning his exercise here at the shelter has to be restricted to walking. Jersey LOVES to run and chase tennis balls, but he cant because of his legs. He also cannot handle more than a few stairs or his legs will give out. Heres where he needs your help! Before Jersey can have his corrective surgery, he needs a permanent home (or a foster) to take him in while he recuperates (which will take months). Jersey cannot go to a home with cats, and he is strong on the leash, which is something we are hoping to help him improve on before his surgery. He also will need a home with no stairs and no very small kids because of his energy level. Jersey will need to be walked for exercise as he will be restricted after surgery, so someone that can handle him now would be best. This is a lot to ask of someone, especially with a recovery time that will last months. This is why we would prefer an adopter to a foster, but he needs to have this surgery done, so we need to get whatever help we can to get this treatment moving for him. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Jersey, please contact or visit the shelter Monday through Friday between 12 and 4 pm so you can speak with our manager about this guy. PLEASE SHARE AND COMMENT to help spread the word about Jersey!
