******HISTORIC EASTCOAST WINTER STORM UPDATE****** (read whole post) Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM Tuesday. *Hazard: HEAVY SNOW with Blowing and Drifting * Snow Accumulations: 10 TO 18 INCHES * Timing: Periods of light snow will affect the evening commute. The snow will then become steadier and heavy at times. The snow will then become steadier and very heavy at times later this evening through Tuesday morning when snowfall rates could exceeded a couple of inches per hour. The snow is expected to taper off Tuesday Afternoon. * Impacts: Some impacts on this evenings commutes, then significant and widespread impacts thereafter. Areas of blowing and drifting snow will add to the hazardous conditions late tonight into Tuesday morning. * Winds: Northeast 15-20 MPH with gust 35 MPH Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow is expected and strong winds are possible. This will make travel VERY hazardous or impossible at times. BCSW Update: If you do not have to be on the roads, STAY HOME. BE PREPARED for the following: -Road Closures -State of Emergencies should be issued tomorrow. -Schools should be closed on Tuesday -This will be an i95 shutdown from Philly North. -If you are flying out of TTN, PHL or ABE. Check with your airline before leaving. As well any other airports up the east coast. Also plan for massive delays with SEPTA. As power outages are very likely make sure you have flashlights, batteries, water supply, and non perishable foods. Also if you have a NOAA Weather Radio make sure it has batteries. We are sticking to our 2nd call map we posted last night. Starting at 8pm we will be doing Observation threads and have it pinned to the top of our page. As this will be an on going update, and we ask that once that is posted you post observations, comments, questions, etc. We will be posting info as the storm moves up the coast. While this is a MAJOR EASTCOAST Storm for our area. This is a HISTORIC EASTCOAST STORM for locations to our north. From NYC to Boston/NE it will be a Lift Threatening storm. ******Next update at 8pm******
