“Hawaii declares; September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!” Earlier this year I contacted my governor New Hampshire’s Maggie Hassan, and asked her to declare September to be Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Governor Hassan immediately agreed and next I worked on getting Massachusetts Governor Patrick to follow suit which he did. That was my initial goal to get the states that my son Cole was most familiar with to declare in his memory. Since then many of you have joined in asking your governor’s to also declare on behalf of all children fighting cancer and in honor of those who were taken by the #1 killer by disease of our nation’s children. Today we stand with 39 governors who have recognized September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. What started as a humble gesture has grown into a true movement. Now we will not be satisfied until all 50 governors join our mission. There is still time to get this done!
