*Hebrews 2:1-4... I pray that we pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken through angels proved to be so firm that every violation or disobedience received its just penalty, how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was first communicated through the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, while God confirmed their witness with signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will. *Hebrews 3:7-15... Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Oh, that today you would listen as He speaks! “Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness (the world). “There your fathers tested Me and tried Me, and they saw My works for forty years. “Therefore, I became provoked at that generation and said, ‘Their hearts are always wandering and they have not known my ways.’ “As I swore in my anger, ‘They will never enter my rest!’” *LETS See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of US has an evil, unbelieving heart that forsakes the living God. *But exhort one another each day, as long as it is called “Today,” that none of US may become hardened by sin’s deception. *For we have become partners with Christ, if in fact we hold our initial confidence firm until the end. As it says, “Oh, that today we would listen as God speaks! Lets not harden our hearts as in the rebellion.” *Psalms 95:6-11... Come! Let’s bow down and worship! Let’s kneel before the Lord, our creator! *For He is our God; we are the people of His pasture, the sheep He owns. Today, if only we would obey Him! *He says, “Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, like they were that day at Massah in the wilderness, where your ancestors challenged My authority, and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work. For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said, ‘These people desire to go astray; they do not obey My commands.’ So I made a vow in My anger, ‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’” *Hebrews 4:1, 3, 6-11... Therefore we must be wary that, while the promise of entering His rest remains open, none of us may seem to have come short of it. *(Spiritual Rest, resting in Jesus completely)! For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, “As I swore in my anger, ‘They will never enter my rest!’” And yet God’s works were accomplished from the foundation of the world. *Therefore it remains for some to enter it, yet those to whom it was previously proclaimed did not enter because of disobedience. So God again ordains a certain day, “Today,” speaking through David after so long a time, as in the words quoted before, “O, that today you would listen as He speaks! Do not harden your hearts.” *For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken afterward about another day. *Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God. For the one who enters God’s rest has also rested from his works, just as God did from his own works. *Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. *2 Peter 1:5-11... For this very reason, lets make every effort to add to our faith excellence, to excellence, knowledge; to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness; to godliness, brotherly affection; to brotherly affection, unselfish love. *For if these things are really ours and are continually increasing, they will keep us from becoming ineffective and unproductive in our pursuit of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ more intimately. *But concerning the one who lacks such things – he is blind. That is to say, he is nearsighted, since he has forgotten about the cleansing of his past sins. Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of our calling and election. For by doing this we will never stumble into sin. For thus an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be richly provided for us.
