Hi folks, Bob again. As you know, last week Scotland had a huge vote about the possibility of seceding from the U.K. And becoming an independent nation. Scots voted 54% to 46% to stay in the U.K., but it led to a Reuters Poll showing a whopping 23.9% of Americans say they “tend to support” or “strongly support” their own state seceding from the United States. Another 53.3% said they opposed the idea and the rest werent sure. Republicans supported secession slightly more than Democrats, 29.7% to 21%. All this has me wondering how the Christian community feels about the idea of seceding from the U.S. I mean look, I love this country, I do. Ive always considered myself patriotic, but I also have to admit that the America Ive loved and grown up in has been dramatically changing more and more into a country I hardly recognize anymore. I cant say that I support secession because I would prefer to stay and fight to turn America back to what made her great, but I also have to admit that I can kind of understand where some of the secessionists are coming from. The idea of one of our states actually voting to officially secede from the U.S. and become its own independent country isnt happening right now, but I honestly dont think it will be long before we start seeing that. Yes, I know theres been secession movements in some states for years like Alaska, Texas and others, but none of these movements have gained enough momentum to where an actual voter referendum takes place with the Legislature on board. So Im curious what you folks think about this. What if, someday (and I do think its coming), some state (maybe Michigan, but I seriously doubt it), what if some state decided they wanted to officially vote to secede from the Union and set themselves up as an independent Christian country that publicly promoted Jesus Christ, a reliance upon Almighty God, true individual liberties and freedoms that allowed people to believe what they want, but ALSO truly protected the rights of Christians to freely exercise their faith in public and on government property. What if they declared in their Constitution that they would be a pro-life nation? A traditional marriage country. A new nation that supports lower taxes, a true Representative government, a true separation of powers, prayer in schools, Evolution AND Creation science evidence taught, and just an overall promotion and encouragement of Christianity from the government. Would you consider joining a secession effort and leaving the U.S. to join this state becoming a new independent country? Or is that unpatriotic and wrong to even consider? What do you all think? newsweek/1-4-americans-open-secession-poll-271713
