#Home Four hostages freed near Waziristan: QUETTA: Kidnappers freed four people abducted from the Killa Saifullah district of Balochistan near Waziristan, Pakistans volatile tribal belt on Thursday. A security official who requested anonymity told Dawn that the kidnappers freed the four hostages in the Zarmilan area of Waziristan. It is yet to be confirmed that how they were set free,” he said. The hostages belong to Quetta and Zhob district of Balochistan. Armed militants had kidnapped ten people from Killa Saifullah district of Balochistan on Jan 4 this year. The captors had killed an official of the Pakistan Air Force whereas they had freed two hostages. The security official stated that three people were still under the custody of kidnappers. Security forces had also launched an operation in Zhob, Killa Saifullah, Sherani and Loralai districts of Balochistan to ensure unhurt recovery of hostages. The forces had also detained some suspects in connection with the kidnapping of ten people. Zhob serves to be a transit point for the militants in volatile tribal belt of Pakistan where Pak Army has launched operation Zarb e Azb. Mounting pressure on the part of armed forces has forced some militants to sneak into Balochistan via Zhob. However, security in and around Zhob has been tightened since the launching of operation Zarb-e-Azb. Militants in the past have also kidnapped government officers and workers of non-governmental organisations in the area. Most of them were freed after payment of heavy ransoms.
