If the recent media reporting can be relied upon, then the once upon deep river cultural music power house, Culture Spears and Thembeni Ramosetheng will soon be going in and out of court rooms if the two parties fail to settle out of court. This after Thembeni approached his lawyer to seek legal advice as to how to go about claiming his riyalties from all the Culture Spears projects he has worked on, The Monitor reported. Thembeni recently divulged to a local newspaper that C.S management has not paid him dividents from his shares since the advent of the groups afro-pop project, E ke ntolo, led by on-screen bubbly and charismatic Magdelene Lesolebe who goes by the sobriquet, Charma Gal and also the wife to the groups front man, Kabelo Mogwe. Thembeni will also be asking his lawyer to seek payment from the group for the unathorized use of his image in the Kulanche CD sleeve. The Monitor has it on good authority that Thembeni told the group not to use his picture on the CD sleeve because he did not make any contribution towards producing the album, but the group nonetheless disregarded his wish and went ahead with using his picture. Recently an artist who was once part of the Kulenyane studios spoke to the media on a condition of anonymity that Kabelo has constantly failed to stamp his authority as the leader of C.S. The artist went further to claim that C.S has been transformed into a family affair with some prominent members purged from decision making. Nonetheless, Kabelo rubbished off the claims as nothing but a ploy to destabilize the proud spears of the nation. He gave none other than the groups standard response that Thembeni is still a very much part of the group and that hes been engaged elsewhere- the claim Thembeni dismissed as a lie I have not been called to perform with them since the beginning of this year. We say: first of all we would like to thank Thembeni from distancing his picture from the mediocrity Family Spears vol 1 Kulanche CD sleeve. Its not a secret that almost all the songs in the album narrate the highly publicized lives of Kabelo and Magdelene with magosi-tlhatswa lesire on top of the list. Contrary to the previous four albums, Kulanche has little to say about Batswana but plently about Kabelo and Magdelene who took their times responding to rumours through music and in the process lost focus. Secondly, its about time Thembeni gets what is legally due to him. We support him in his quest of seeking royalty payments from the group. He has helped build Culture Spears and it is only right that he get a share of his hard work. We are a protest movement supporting human dignity to all which is a universal struggle hence we have our families from Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania etc supporting this humanitarian call. ***FANS UNITED***
