??? How Important is it To Set Goals ??? Phil.3:13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Are we there yet? I’ve been asked this question in different ways many times, at work, on road trips, during a lesson, etc… The question is asked on an assumption that a destination will be reached. God has desired a destination for your life, are you there yet? The Christian life must always be lived with a destination in mind. While your ultimate destination, Heaven, is secure, your earthly goal in holiness. Your spiritual life is a never ending journey in constant pursuit of God’s best for your life. God’s best always involves transformation into His holy image. Are you headed in the right direction? The apostle Paul modeled several attributes that enabled him to press on. Use his words as a checklist for today. First, he was honest and self-aware. He knew that he was not there yet. Do you live like you have already arrived? In order to go where God wants to take you, you must first understand you are not there yet! This means that you must be both venerable and secure. Secondly, Paul was committed to God’s purpose in his life. He understood that God’s plan was worthy of active pursuit. God has divine purpose for your life, but it will not be achieved by default, you must constantly pursue His best, You are here to become what He wants you to be, not what others what you to be, or what you think you should be. Focus on why you are here instead of fretting because you think you are not where you think you ought to be. Finally, forget the past and forge ahead! What do you need to forget? Do not let anything in your past keep you from God’s purpose in your present—there is a high and holy purpose for your life today. God sometimes it is hard to believe that You have a plan for my life. Thank you for loving me and creating me for a divine purpose. I know I’m not there yet! Please expose the blind spots in my life that keep me from Your best. Help me passionately pursue Your plans for me today, In Jesus name, Amen
