How can I , except some man should guide me? Just quoting a scripture is not teaching anymore than just reading. The devil himself quotes scripture but never applies them to the context a scripture is given. Takes more than reading a verse to understand a verse as we all know of verse we can read but do not understand. This is why study is required...or to be taught by a man of God. Quoting scripture does not teach anyone anything In Acts 8th chapter there is a man reading Isaiah 53 but did not know who the scripture was speaking of. This is the verse the Ethiopian was reading Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed , and he was afflicted , yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb , so he openeth not his mouth. Philip asked this man if he understood what he was reading, knowing reading it does not mean he understood it and he did not understand it. Acts 8:31 And he said , How can I , except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
