Howard Smith wins ABTA Title, $2,800 at Irvine Lanes Jean Colian and Richard Lawson share $5,000 Match Series pot ALL POTS CARRY OVER to West Covina Laanes THIS WEEK $2,000 est. Match Series 3-6-9 is $3,000 Saturday at West Covina Lanes 12:00-1:00-2:30-4:00 & 6:00PM Semifinals 8:00 PM ABTA Visited Irvine Lanes in a long awaited return and although a lighter turnout, the bowlers enjoyed the classy Center and a Fair but tough shot saw Cut scores of +72 Men and +59 ladies and we had 37 bowlers advance to a Beat the Board FINALS which proved to be quite exciting!! Also Super Seniors added to the board were Sierrie Herradura+40 Jack Trongale +70 and Vic Paolucci +52. High Qualifiers were Ted Villaroman (men)+152 and Faye Josefat led the Ladies also +152 No they did not enter the Optional Doubles :-)) they receive a paid entry to any upcoming ABTA regular event. Top qualifier Villaroman drew a 542 score for the match Series pot and was matched by two of our fine Members!! Jean Colian, and Richard Lawson. Jean took home $2,500 and Rich in his first event in over a year got 25% and $625 4 events in a calendar Year you get 100% Congrats to both!! Our optional 3-6-9 pot of $3,000 is STILL there for the taking, as Mark Andrews outlasted the field and Missed going for the Big Bucks also he got $50 Consolation for beer money and again we go for$3,000 Saturday at West Covina Lanes a consolation!. 3 GRAND again Saturday Folks!! Ted Villaroman and Kmel Cunanan teamed in the opt. Doubles 1495 and $100 Doubles paid out 14 places at Irvine The Mystery Doubles (GAME #2) winners were Deborah Sanders and Louis Evans 483 taking home $90 and we paid 6 places in the Mystery doubles! This, now is a Beat the Board Finals Event, and where you finish in the 3 games is what your cashing Position will be!! The Bowlers took to the lanes, and leaders after the 1st game were Christina Cheung +58, Jo Jo Barcelona +57, Howard Smith +55, John Gonzales +48 and Johnny Armenia was 5th +43. Ms. Cheung was side-pot winner game -1 at 258 After the 2nd game, Kerry Lucka took the lead with a +105 Henry Narcisco right behind +101, Christina Cheung and Howard Smith sitting at +87 and Jo Jo Barcleona in the hunt at +85 Cut to make the Top 16 after the 2nd game, was +45 men and women+27 Game3 Howard stays tough with a big 254 finishing at a nice +141 but wait Narcisco also Narcisco finished strong a 240 to tie Howard both at +141 so they will have a one game Championship Roll off for the tittle 3rd was Christina Cheung, 4th John Armenia and 5th was Ed Palma!! Th roll off was on and through 3 frames Howard led by 21 as henry had two opens and then again in the 4tht opened and Howard with a big double is in Command and Henry answered w a 3 bagger but Howard answered with tossed a game ending 5 bagger to win the title in fine style in a 225/270 195/246 count and a tidy $2,800. Great Bowlig by ine of the Good Guys!!! How is The Champ and a Champ of a Guy also lots of fun with that man! Congrats !! Henry did well a title is in his future and he is a most likeable man also. Great Bowling !! Out of the 38 bowlers that took the floor, Smith was the HORSE winner with a $485 pay out per bet. One lucky Bettor named Smith picked him to win!!. It wasn’t Howard!! The Champion, Howard Smith is Rancho Santa Margarita and used a Storm drilled by Ramon at Carter Bowl. He’s married to Sharon and thanks her for the support of his bowling and thanks letting him bowl at Irvine rather than do bathroom restoration! He thanks Bob and the Crew for caring to the bowlers, and The ABTA Staff for a great job!! Runnerup Henry Narcisco hails from Covina and used a Storm drilled by Dave Edis at West Covina Lanes where we visit Saturday. He thanks the ABTA for a great event and to Josie and S Willie Parawan, DQ. George, Don and Mark and esp his Son Henri 4 yrs old. Christina Cheung is from San Gabriel and used a Storm drilled by Aarik Torres at Covina Bowl. He is single but tken by Norbert an ABTA Member.. Thanks to sis Cynthia, Dad Edmund and Bowlmanians, and her 3 babies Bubu, Bailie, and Brandy! Winner of a new bowling ball from our sponsor, 900 Global, was Vuong Do who got the Network and he likes it!! This Weekend we vist West Covina Lanes with carry over funds.
