Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church ~Eph 5:25, 28-29~ Wow husbands in the Lord! When you really think about this its an incredible responsibility and calling, Love your wife LIKE CHRIST LOVED THE CHURCH. This perspective helps me to see how much Ive failed at this, but Im committed to reaching this more than ever now... I was going to go into a big discussion concerning what this means but I think the Word already explains it quite well. Were suppose to treat our wives exactly the way Christ loves us and its summed up this way... Read these slowly... (1 Cor 13:4-7 NASB) Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. This is the way Christ is toward us... image if marriages would continue to carry these qualities, imagine if us husbands continued to have these qualities toward our wives, patience, kindness, not seeking our own, not easily provoked, believes in her, hopes in her, and endures with her, is faithful to her, encourages her... These here are the keys to a successful marriage, and the wife ought to learn and know just how much God loves her and His people by the way we love her... What and incredible responsibility! But lets not shrink from this for its not by might nor power but by The Spirit of the Lord!
