Lewis. The I Love Ferguson Committee is a volunteer organization selling t-shirts and yard signs which read I (heart) FERGUSON with the proceeds being given to businesses who were looted or other damaged. They gave away the first $5,000.00 of proceeds last week, just GOOGLE the committees name. My contact is Brian Fletcher, a former mayor of Ferguson. Douglas J. Lewis has a State of Missouri registration for I (HEART) FERGUSON MISSOURI, a copy of which is attached. The Michael Brown shooting was on August 9, Mr. Lewis application was filed on August 25, 2014 and alleges a date of first use on t-shirts, etc. on February 18, 2014. Mr. Lewis emailed the committee yesterday and demanded royalties or a buy-out. He charged infringement of his Missouri registration and substantiates his demand with an analysis of the DuPont factors. He pulled a similar stunt with the St. Louis Cardinals about six years ago, attached is a copy of a Memorandum and Order in that case. Mr. Lewis is very bad person and the I Love Ferguson Committee needs help. I filed a federal application to register their mark yesterday on a pro bono basis but I do not have the resources to file suit in federal court. Thomson Coburn has the resources and a strong IP division which is why I contacted you.
