“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me and I - TopicsExpress

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth much fruit; for without me, you can do nothing” John 15:5 I think pride is simply a demonstration of lack of understanding. Any Christian that acts or thinks of himself as being self-sufficient doesn’t understand. For instance, I think no child of God that understands spiritual things can get proud because he manifests spiritual gifts. If you were so powerful, why not use your own authority to cast out devils? Each time we use the name of Jesus, we leverage on the work of Christ, not our works. It doesn’t make sense being arrogant about an influence you did not originate. Right after Peter healed the man that was lame from his mother’s womb at the Beautiful Gate; people stared at him in awe. They had never seen anything like that before. But Peter said, “…why marvel at this? Or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?” (Acts 3:1-12). Peter was not being humble by saying that. He was sincere! The bible tells us that it is in God that we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). He is the power at work in us. Our sufficiency is of Him. Always remember that.
