“I barely knew Nora at the time and Im at this party at Noras house and she said, Oh, I just optioned my first book, its this biography about a mathematician, Alan Turing, youve never heard of him,” says Moore, who had been obsessed with Turing since he was a teen and was aching to write a screenplay about him, despite the fact that his agents kept telling him that nobody would ever finance such a film. “I instantly freak out and launch into this totally insufferable l5-minute monologue where Im like, this is how the movie starts, this is how the movie ends, I know everything about him, you have to let me work on this. Ill write it on spec, Ill do it for free, I just have to be involved.
