“I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose - TopicsExpress

“I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.” (Psalm 57:2 NLT) At first glance, prayer and the purpose of God sound to be contradictory. How can I pray, when God is going to work out His plans anyway? Let me try this explanation. Can it be that my prayer is part of God’s purpose for my life? Is it possible, that God purposes for me to pray and thus grow in faith and dependence on Him? As the old English hymn puts it: “God holds the key to all unknown, and I am glad. If other hands should hold the key, or if He trusted it to me, I might be sad.” The Apostle Paul got it, and he wrote: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Rom. 8:28 NLT)
