*I do apologise if you dont like seeing this sort of thing, but as a rural page this is part of our life on the land* Flicking back through the timeline on Rural Miss I discovered this post was the most popular (and possibly controversial with 549 comments) in the history of the page. He had 2808 likes and 172 shares. The reason I do put up posts such as this one is that how we live off the land is very important to us. I try do grow some of my own veges and fruit, we get eggs from our poultry & meat is also in our families diet. We eat all our own lamb and beef, chicken & turkey (when the supply is right), pork (we eat wild pig from the bush that we trap ourselves) and at times roo or venison. With beef, we kill the animals in the paddock or yard, skin the beast on the ground before raising it on the tractor for gutting, before it is quartered and put in our coolroom. The quarters hang for a week to 10 days before being cut up, minced, sausages made etc then frozen. I do have a series of photos that I wont share on the page and after realising how interested people are in the whole process (& promising a blogpost over 18 months ago on it!) I will put it into writing in the hopefully near future.
