“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. Their Future Glory The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. John 17:20-23 To realize that Christ chose 12 men to carry out His ministry and to continue His message to all the world through them is quite amazing. These men other than Paul had no formal training or education, they were plan ole ordinary men, sinners, selfish, low morals, and with little hope, “but (one of my most favorite words in scripture) God” uses ordinary folks to work through to perform His work, He first worked though Adam and accomplished His perfect work of creation, he then chose Noah, to continue His work of redemption, then Abraham, then Moses, and as Hebrews 11:32 -40 says; numerous others that were too many to even mention, then all the prophets of the OT until Christ. Christ came to fulfill all the OT promises and to die on our behalf as the promised Messiah. God is still using men, women and children today to share their testimonies of God’s grace on and in their lives to encourage others to believe. Also in this passage is one of the first times God mentions our oneness with Him in Christ “…I in them and You in Me…” our new position, new man, woman, child in Him, Christ in us, our Glory … now that’s the most encouraging News we could ever know and to meditate upon
