Charley Says (Pete Burns & Jess White) The Lost Picture Show This song took many a circuitous route to arrive at the version you now hear. We wont name the influences here - if you know them youll spot them. Wed been playing this live in a very different form that suited vocals, guitar, harmonica and bass drum (our live set-up) but wanted to give it the full production for a recording. The Lost Picture Show is a metaphor for the frustrations that all musicians go through having penned, produced and released their masterpiece into an uncaring, indifferent world of silence and how the temptation to sycophantically sell out can become an opportunity to sell your soul. We all know the score. reverbnation/charleysays1 reverbnation/peterburns 7. Led Zeppelin The Rover (from the album Physical Graffiti) 8. Soundserif King Of The Night Happy that you want play king.. Its a little difficult to me to say whats the major influence for that song because it mixes together different genres, anyway the first thing i can say is that XTC sgt. Rock inspired me for the rythm and a little for guitar riffs. Do you know that song? reverbnation/soundserif 9. XTC Sgt Rock 10. MT Robinson & The Messengers The Wedding Song Cool:-) Thank you oh n the track that jumped into my mind was Heart of Gold Neil Young:-) Yup! mtrobisonmusic/ 11. Neil Young Heart Of Gold 12. Head Of Light Entertainment Nip It In the Bud An influence track? Mmmm, thats quite hard as I love so many different things without necessarily being directly influenced by any of them. But I think Ill go with a song by one of my all time favourite bands Sparks- Something For The Girl With Everything (brilliant song and never dated to my ears). Unique pop and something Head Of Light Entertainment aspire to...Ill send you Nip It very soon. I dont have the Sparks stuff readily available Im afraid. If its easier, something by Buddy Holly would be good- Everyday or Well Alright especially! And yes, Im fully PRSd up! headoflightentertainment/ 13. Buddy Holly Everyday 14. David Vidal After The Storm Of course it would be okay... let me figure out how to get you an mp3... that tune was written by Julie Didier and me... shes from Marksville, Louisiana... it was musically influenced by The Meters and Little Feat... not sure which tunes specifically... probably Dixie Chicken from Little Feat and Cissy Strut from the Meters... davidvidal.net/ 15. Little Feat Dixie Chicken 16. Jane E. Robertson aka Curvy Jane Bedtime Boogie The influence track was hard to pick. My first love and introduction to wanting to make music was James Taylor. I have always claimed Jim Croce as my biggest influence, however, because he defined songwriting to me. I used to make up songs when I was a kid but he gave what I did a name - Songwriting. I think thats why Im so partial to I Got A Name. My greatest songwriting influences are all men, oddly enough. Jim Croce, James Taylor, Bob Segar and John (Cougar) Mellencamp. Ray Charles taught me all about soul. Yep - This is my Boys Club. :o) reverbnation/curvyjane 17. Bob Seger Horizontal Bop 18. Trouble Clef (Tim Ross) Crash and Dash Hi Deb, here it is. hope you dig it and thanks! Crash And Dash is the last recording I made with my band Trouble Clef. It was just a spontaneous warm-up jam but fortunately we had the recorder going which allowed me to give a full production to it. There is a freshness and a smooth motion to the song which makes it one of my favorite TC songs. Some of the spirit in its production might stem from my favorite song from the Alan Parsons project called Damned if I Do. The effortless motion of that song take me to the sky. It sounds like a song that wasnt toiled over. The parts all fell into place just right and like the TC song, went sailing right out there! The inspiration for the title of Crash And Dash....well thats a story for another day I guess ;) reverbnation/apologynone 21. Alan Parsons Project Damned If I Do 22. The Big I Am HOLE As per Peter McPartland via Colin Heaney who wrote this one, oh hed been listening a lot to Blue Nile thats the best i can wrench out of him The Big I Am were formed in in lovely Liverpool UK. It is hard to pin down our style, it is most certainly acoustic as it features a cuatro, and a tenor ukulele. There are two distinct vocalists in the band but we know that there is no future for a band from Liverpool with two singers. Still we play on in a world that believes guitars, bass drums and synths is the only way to go. We beg and dare to differ. reverbnation/rash 23. Blue Nile Tinseltown In The Rain 24. Beachy Head Music Club Its Only A Song Simon (Young bass & main writer) wrote its only a song and the influence was pretentious wankers (you dont have to say this on air Doc G) Seriously, something like Ian Dury Mash It Up Harry reverbnation/beachyheadmusicclub?profile_view_source=profile_box 25.
