| I have changed my mind about something I fundamentally opposed in 2010... It is not everyday that I shift on fundamental ideological questions.... I was opposed to further sub-divisions of South Sudan and in fact I believed in consolidation and restoration of three former Provinces and doing away with the 10 States. This was primarily based on demographics, economics, security and the principle of a small government. However, I no longer think that should be the case and in fact the opposite should happen. South Sudan should make all the former districts of former colonial condominium-Sudan, there were 24 of them as of 1/1/1956, States and special considerations for counties like Pochalla, Pigi, Parieng, Raja and Greater Kapoeta Region should be made. That is to say, Pochalla should be taken out of Greater Pibor and made a state of its own, Parieng plus Abiemnhom and Abyei should be a state, Raja is huge and sparsely populated it can remain so or divided into two, Greater Kapoeta can be divided into two states. Pigi should be returned either to Malakal as it was pre-56 or incorporated into Baliet.... These would be in addition to the 24 former districts that would be made into states.... I can write you an essay why, but power should be decentralised and the Central Government should be responsible only for three things: defence, foreign trade and foreign affairs... Everything else should be the domain of the states. | Convince me otherwise....
