"I learned it by watching you!" One of the most helpful techniques I can give you to use with your children with or without autism is the act of modeling. I feel like this is a lot of what I do. If I am working on clear single words, I drop a lot of language and just model those clear single words. If I am working on flexibility, I try something, and then model my own flexibility if the child resists. I model how excited I am to play and connect to help children do the same. Our children learn from watching us. Think about all of the skills that you are modeling to your child all of the time. If you want your child to be flexible, responsive and interested in others, than thats what you need to be with them! Happy Playing!
