: I once read somewhere that A good teacher, like a good entertainer, must get hold of the audiences attention. Then he or she can teach. This speaks volume. It has a very profound impact on me. It transforms me into an educator who teaches from the heart. I find joy & pleasure through teaching. I let my guard down & accept the fact that my students success is the reflection of my teaching. I learned that ones BA, MA or PhD does absolutely nothing if he or she doesnt have it in the heart to educate. Educating is far from teaching. Heck, no matter how impressive one is on paper...it still does not translate. I looked up to my former educators who inspired me to be the educator that I am today. I also believe that ones success is indirectly linked to inspiring educators (at some point in his or her life). Im also glad to have been blessed with this duality -- the fact that Im an educator & an entertainer ; one cant live without the other. Each one enriches my experience in this noble journey. The perks of being an educator? No other profession gets this much blessing & respect from people. People pray for you. Its the closest thing you can get to peoples hearts. It teaches you patience. It makes you humane. It makes you humble. It makes you determined. Put all the stupid and demoralizing politics (these things have arguably changed peoples intention) aside, my students are the ones who have kept me alive all these good 9 years. So thank you to all of my wonderful kids that I have taught. Thank you to all my former teachers who made me who I am today. And thank you to all my colleagues who helped to shape me. You dont necessarily have to be a teacher to be an educator -- so thank you to the supportive parents for teaching your kids well. Happy Teachers Day to all!
