*I share this with you in hopes that if you are in a rough place in your life that you too will start to believe in yourself again* Today was an exciting day for me...it used to be a day I dreaded...my annual fitness test day at work! You see on top of running six laps around the gym that included jumping a waist high bar, climbing up and over a set of 7 stairs, jumping over two knee high hurdles and pushing/pulling 80lbs 12 times in an 180° arc while inbetween throwing yourself on the ground (all to be done in 4:15 or less), theres a skin fold test. Its a very physically challenging test! Each portion is allotted a certain amount of points and if you get at least 65, you get two days off! Sweet deal, thats for sure. My first 5 years, I passed with an average time of 3:36 and average points of 75. Not too bad. But then in 2009/10, when I started to lose control of my eating habits and just got plain lazy, my time slowed to 3:44 both years and I got less than 65 points (not good!). Oh, my total skin fold measurements was 94! In 2011/12 I was at my heaviest in weight and was suffering major back pain...needless to say, I skipped out on doing my fitness tests those years...mainly out of pure embarrassment. As most of you know, in August 2012, I re-committed myself to focusing on getting and staying healthy! I chose to follow the advice of a Beachbody Coach and began exercising at home, cleaned up my eating habits and started drinking Shakeology everyday. Finally after 2.5 years of not doing the test, in March 2013, I did my fitness test. My time dropped to 3:20, my skin fold measurements dropped to 76 and I got 94.5 points! Yay! Here I am just over a year later and Ive stayed committed to my health...Ive been itching to see the difference! Today I ran it in 3:17 (my fastest time ever! Even from 9 years ago!), skin folds dropped to 67 and I got 97.5 points! My weight from last year was only 3 lbs less, which means Ive lowered my body fat while increasing my lean muscle mass! What guy doesnt want that? 💪 The biggest and best improvement? Erasing all self-doubt from my mind and knowing that I am capable of doing anything! 😃
