I think that raising the minimum wage is the wrong way to compensate low wage earners........I think the solutions lies in forcing the oil industry to lower their prices dramatcically......consider the price of fuels back in the 1960s, as compared to everything else....Prices today are ridiculously higher and very out of proportion with everythkng else on the market......and fuel costs have very direct impact on inflation and everyones budget......IF our govt would force fuel prices down.....to where they belong.....This would, in fact; give our economic system the shotin its arm, so badly needed....and the people on minimum wage would see a big stretch in the budget...without the need for a minumum wage hike. Increasing minimum wage will only cause a spike in inflation....and within 6 months, we will be exactly where we are now....History has proven that repeatedly. The Republicans in favour of eliminating the minimum wage, are doing so at the demand of big corporations; who want to revert this nation back to what it was prior to Teddy Roosevelt; when people worked long hours, for pathetically low wages, no benefits and no labor laws to protect them. This wojld create massive unemployment....and an endless line of interchangeable workers to fill slots, after the current employees are physically and emotionally burned out, and then swept to the street.....Just like in the late 1800s. Keep in mind, if minimum wage was to be raised to $11 an hour......As soon as inflation kicks up, as it always does soon after mass wage increases; Everybody would be taking a pay cut....and the real damage that will be done....will be to further devaluing the dollar.....as pushing this nation even closer to an economic collapse...... Think about that awhile.....
