I posit that, terminating her appointment is not enough for the following reasons: First of all, how is she going to “make one million dollars” with her current income if not to steal? Intention to commit a crime is an offence; stealing is a crime. Therefore her intention to steel $1 million is a crime and must be interrogated.My second point emanates from a social psychological perspective. The woman has an intention to steel $1,000,000. She has espoused these intentions openly resulting in her dismissal. Her intentions are strongly backed by her belief that “If you have money then you can control people”. Research has shown that beliefs and intentions are strong determinants of human behaviour. Therefore, to what extent has Victoria translated these intentions into actions? To answer this question requires investigations into her assets. I conclude that Victoria Hammah must be probed and the findings made public to enhance government’s commitment to fighting corruption. Such characters are found in many of our state institutions; judiciary, security services, civil service etc. They are in office for a particular reason- to steel from the people. We must launch a crusade to smoke them out!
