“I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, for My anger has turned away from him.”--Hosea 14:4 God isn’t mad at you. Even if you have turned away from Him, He is still looking toward you. All too often we’re told that God is mad at sin, and He’s mad at us because of sin in our lives. This simply isn’t true. God exhausted all of His anger and all of His wrath toward sin in the body of Jesus Christ at the cross. It was there that the perfect sacrifice was made to atone for sin and satisfy God’s holy standards. Since sin has been punished and God has unleashed His fury in the body of His Son Jesus Christ, God is just and righteous in loving you freely and showing you grace and favor. Even if you sin by violating the standards of His Laws, He cannot be mad at you because Jesus has already borne the punishment. Instead of God’s anger and fury being unleashed on you because you have chosen to turn away from Him, God is pouring out His love. You need to know this truth: no matter where you are and no matter what you are doing, God loves you freely and is not mad at you. It’s much easier to return to God knowing that He’s not upset and He’s not going to unleash His wrath on you then it is to come expecting punishment. Wherever you are today in your relationship with God know this: He’s not mad at you and He loves you no matter what. The suffering of Jesus Christ has atoned for all of your sins. God’s wrath toward your wrong doings was poured out on the body of Jesus Christ as He hung on the cross. He [Jesus] has provided restoration; He is your reconciliation.
