“I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” Psalm 104:33 Do you ever suddenly discover yourself humming a song and you didn’t even realize it? I do that a lot. It is simply a matter of something being on your mind subconsciously and it began to manifest itself in song. When I think of these words of the psalmist written above, I am reminded that when I am thinking about God’s goodness and His blessings, if I simply allow my heart to express itself, it will burst forth into song. A great praise and worship song by Chris Tomlin comes to mind: “How Great is Our God!” Here is the first verse and chorus: The splendor of a king Clothed in majesty Let all the earth rejoice All the earth rejoice He wraps Himself in light, And darkness tries to hide And trembles at His voice Trembles at His voice How great is our God – sing with me How great is our God – and all will see How great, how great is our God” If you know that song, take a moment and rehearse it in your heart. If you don’t know it, read those words in light of the words of our verse for today. Our God is certainly worthy of our praise and music is the vehicle of the soul to express itself.
