*****IMPORTANT*****1. The public meeting regarding the Southern Crushed Concrete batch plant will be on Tuesday, July 29 at 7 PM at Westbury High School, 11911 Chimney Rock. 2. A Vietnamese translator will be present. 3. The public meeting will be split into two periods, an Informal Discussion Period and a Formal Comment Period. 4. The Informal Discussion Period will allow attendees to go up to a microphone and ask questions to representatives of TCEQ and Southern Crushed Concrete about the proposed plant. The questions and answers during this period will not be part of the record for when the TCEQ decides whether or not to grant a Contested Case Hearing. 5. The Formal Comment Period will allow attendees to address the TCEQ and list their reasons for their opposition to the permit. There will be no verbal response from the TCEQ at this point. They will just record all comments made at this time. 6. Written Formal Comments may also be submitted during this time. There is not a required format for comments submitted during the hearing. 7. After the public meeting, the TCEQ will respond to all formal comments and make a decision on whether or not to hold a Contested Case hearing. 8. If anyone submitted comments online during the first comment period, but did not request a Contested Case hearing they should submit a written request for a Contested Case hearing during this time. 9. If someone submitted comments during the first comment period but wants to submit more comments, they can be done either orally during the Formal Comment Period or submitted in writing. 10. Even though only people who live within 440 yards of the plant will be considered as having standing in a Contested Case hearing, they will consider all the issues submitted as Formal Comments (written or oral) when deciding whether or not to grant the Contested Case hearing. Therefore it is important to raise the issues of health, safety and environmental impacts even if you do not live within 440 yards of the plant. They will be taken into account when making the decision. 11. Reviewing their application indicates that the area is an industrial/commercial area. There is a major park; an apartment complex; a convent with dormitories; a school; a day care and a private residence very nearby. This is no longer an industrial area.
