**IMPORTANT INFORMATION** ALL CLIENTS PLEASE READ... NEW INFORMATION has been announced today from the British Dog Grooming Association from the Royal Collage of Veterinary Surgeons. ANAL GLANDS: Must ONLY be expressed by a Vet- externally or internally. Deciding if there is infection or compaction involves a diagnosis, which is the practice of a veterinary surgeon. If it is not infected, it is therefore questionable if it needs emptying at all. EAR CLEANING: If your dog has Infected/inflamed ears, they are not to be touched by a groomer in any way. Ear hair can only be pulled from the outer ear. Any hair that exists further down the ear canal must be removed by a Vet. TEETH CLEANING: Only regular day to day brushing will be performed by your groomer. Any rescaling requires treatment from a vet. DEMATTING: (as before) Any procedure that exposes a dog to discomfort is AGAINST THE LAW under The Animal Welfare Act. Asking your groomer to brush out a heavily matted coat could result in you the owner and the groomer, being investigated and prosecuted by the RSPCA. THIS INFORMATION IS YET TO BE FILTERED DOWN TO YOUR LOCAL VETERINARY PRACTICE. Therefore, if your Vet recommends regular Anal Gland emptying or ear hair being removed from the ear canal during a grooming session, please advise otherwise. Any ear/anal glands problems that will need to be looked at by your groomer, will need to be given in the way or written permission by your vet. Written permission is required per dog. ALL ABOVE INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE AS A DOCUMENT, SHOULD CLIENTS NEED FURTHER INFORMATION. THANK YOU POSH POOCHES
