**IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ. COCOA NEEDS A NEW HOME** Cocoa is now ready to be adopted. Cocoa has never been around cats and any children should preferbaly be over 16. Though she has been around dogs, a meet and greet is a must for anyone with dogs. So please if you can offer Cocoa a home please email: twentypawsrescue@gmail Below is why Cocoa is back in Twenty Paws Rescue care: As of 3/4/13, Cocoa is back in the care of Twenty Paws Rescue. After about a year and a half of living in her ‘furever’ home, Cocoa’s former adopter fell on hard times and became severely ill. As with all of our adopters, we kept in touch with Cocoa’s former adopter since her adoption with us almost 2 years ago. Through consistent conversations and steady flow of pictures, we were assured that Cocoa was doing well. Sadly, in his time of need, her adopter did not contact or reach out to us for assistance. Instead, unbeknownst to us, he decided to violate his adoption contract and dump Cocoa in a home our rescue would never have approved for a Twenty Paws Rescue dog. Furthermore, he moved her without notifying us, which is a direct disregard to our contract. When we adopted Cocoa to this family, she was a healthy and robust 54 lbs. When we took Cocoa back into our care she was morbidly obese at 74 lbs and at risk to roll down a hill at any moment. Since then we have been able to secure her weight at a healthy state. Although we are certain that she did not endure any physical abuse, we are sure now that she was NOT a beloved member of the family- something she always deserved. Working quickly and meticulously, the past 2 weeks flew by leaving an incredible cloud of dust in its wake. During this time, we were able to safely remove Cocoa from this unfit home and substitute family. Now that she safely arrived back to our custody, we want to update everyone on her status and ask for your support. Tragically, Cocoa is NOT in a home. Our girl is in a boarding facility. This means that, once again, Cocoa sleeps behind steel doors and bars. This boarding facility accepted our plea to take her in temporarily and help us all endure this ordeal. Today, she visited the vet and we will embark on a collective effort to bring her back to her ideal healthy weight. Within a few weeks, we need to find Cocoa a new home. At this time, we will have her reevaluated to make sure there are no underlying or dormant healths or behavioral concerns. Today we need help with prayers and love. We will update as we can. If you have any questions, please feel free to privately email us at twentypawsrescue@gmail Cocoa spent seven months in a low kill shelter before finding her forever home.
