‘Ida’ to run for Oscar nomination Pawel Pawlikowski’s movie “Ida” has been put forward as Poland’s entry for the foreign-language film category of the 2015 Oscars.The decision was taken by a panel set up by culture minister Malgorzata Omilanowska, and and chaired by Film director, script writer and prose writer Filip Bajon Ida is an intimate, black-and-white drama with a Jewish theme set in postwar Poland. It tells a story of an 18-year-old novice nun Anna (Agata Trzebuchowska) and her aunt Wanda (Agata Kulesza), a former state prosecutor, who set out on a road trip to discover their family’s past. Ida was voted the best Polish movie of 2013. Pawlikowski received an award for best director. Kulesza was voted the best actress in a leading role.
