“If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Roman 8:31 - TopicsExpress

“If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Roman 8:31 I’ve read that passage so many times and always applied it to others but in the last few days I’ve been applying it to myself. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies. God will give us a message but we become so convinced that all is right in our world that the message is meant for someone else that we fail to see miracle that God is trying to work in our lives. God has been speaking to me a lot about Fear this past week, everywhere I turn is a reading or a lesson on that topic and my first reaction was denial. There’s nothing I was afraid about! Why am I getting all these messages? It must be meant for someone else! But our all-knowing, powerful and loving God gives us what we need even when we don’t know we need it. With my daughter about to head off to college my life is changing and suddenly after years of being a single parent and my life revolving around her I am suddenly out of my comfort zone. What I am learning is that my anchor must continue to be in God and never in fear of the unknown. Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Fear rises when I anchor myself to others, to things and to circumstances but when my anchor is firmly in God I can float but he will NEVER allow me to sink. The fears I have for my daughter as she embarks on this new phase of her journey I now understand that God has been trying to tell me to turn it over to him and TRUST HIM. RELY upon him to keep her firmly tethered to him so that she will never drift far away from his side and will always be covered by the precious blood of Jesus. Romans 8:15 “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” I have to wake up each morning not with a feeling of dread but rather with a deep rooted confidence that God is always at work paving the paths for both of us and working all things out for our good. I am getting the lesson that instead of allowing fear to rule, I must continually praise and bless the name of our Lord until fear flees because it will have no place to settle in my heart, soul or life. This is my encouragement to us all, go to God in prayer, meditation, and dedication and with an open heart STEP OUT in faith not fear knowing that we are firmly anchored to a God who will never fail us. Stop looking at other peoples blessings and instead focus on what God is doing in our lives. When we keep our eyes focused on God amazing things can, will and do happen. Be anchored today my friends.
