If you dont understand why this is a problem, if you think news agencies being harassed, arrested, shutdown, shut out and barred is just what those parasites deserve, then -- and I dont care what bumper stickers you have on your car, or pins you have on your lapel or whether you are Team R or Team D -- you dont love liberty and you dont understand what this nation is supposed to be about. Are news agencies -- and individual reporters -- a flawed bunch? Do many bring their own biases, left and right, into the work they do? Do they get it wrong? Sadly yes to all. [No one had more fun at the expense of the reporter this week who thought earplugs were rubber bullets than I did.] But unless you think you are capable of being everywhere all at once and seeing everything that the state does -- supposedly in your name, supposedly with a grant of authority that arises only from the consent of the governed --then you damn well better be an advocate for not only press freedom, but press access.
